After a pediatrician initially diagnosed her son, JJ, with nonaccidental trauma and shaken baby syndrome, Lorina and her husband vehemently denied any wrongdoing. The state authorities took custody of their children, placing them in foster care for five agonizing months. However, subsequent medical examinations conducted by another doctor revealed that JJ actually suffered from a birth injury and benign external hydrocephalus.
